The money spent on on a good Backplate is indeed money well spent as it will last a life time of diving. Along with the Secure Harness it represents the base of the modular system and will allow you to upgrade your equipment economically in line with the growth in your experience.

It also has the huge advantage over an integral back plate in that it can be used with any cylinder configuration from single to twins and will even allow the carriage of stage cylinders.
The Stainless Steel back plate weighs 6lbs and the aluminium back plate weighs 1lbs
